The complete journey through Ghana's Gold Coast.
Your personal guide meets you at Accra Kotoka International Airport and transport to Elmina. Check in at Lemon Beach Resort, enjoy a welcome drink and get a full resort orientation.
A full day immersed in the history and culture of Elmina. Morning: a detailed guided tour of Elmina Castle, the oldest European building in sub-Saharan Africa and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Learn about the gold trade, the trans-Atlantic slave trade, and the Door of No Return. Lunch at Anomansa Restaurant at the foot of the castle. Afternoon: Elmina walking tour through the fish market, past traditional shrines, and into the workshops of local artisans.
Morning: drive to Cape Coast Castle for a guided tour of this second UNESCO World Heritage fortress. Afternoon: continue to Kakum National Park for the famous canopy walk — a 350-metre wooden walkway suspended 40 metres above the rainforest floor. Return to the coast for cocktails at Lemon Lounge in Cape Coast, just 200 metres from the castle. Afternoon: a VR session at Lemon Arcades in Cape Coast — immersive virtual reality experiences for all ages.
Morning: a 3-hour batik workshop in Elmina where you learn traditional techniques and create your own one-yard cloth to take home. Evening: a cultural dance performance at the resort by AKOMAPA dancers, featuring traditional drumming and a spine-tingling fire act.
Morning: Visit a local school supported by Lemon Family. If you will you can bring pencils, notebooks, or toys from home and connect with the children and teachers. Afternoon: a guided cycling tour around the Elmina community — past the castle, the Dutch Cemetery, salt mining ponds, the Posuban Shrine, and the fishing village. Evening: free time to relax at the resort.
